You can use different encryption keys for different secret ballots. Encryption key is used to encrypt your vote in the database. You have to remember it if you want to change or view your vote later. For open votes, your vote is stored unencrypted.
Voter ID's are stored with the votes either spelled out in full or scrambled, independently of whether the ballot is open or secret.
Intermediate results may either be shown throughout the voting, or hidden till the closing date.
